The New Year's Speech

This is the speech that Pharaoh gave at the New Year's Fesvival. It is VERY long, and you may not want to read all of it, but you may want to skim through it. This speech gives you a good idea about what we plan do do this coming year, and it sums up what we have done in the previous year.

New Year’s Speech

My friends and fellow civilians of the great Kingdom of Egypt. We have gathered here tonight to celebrate the New Year, and what a year it has been! We have such reason to celebrate! In our celebrations, we are to remember the magnificent achievements of our Kingdom in the past year, and the great goals we set out to achieve in the following year. We will celebrate and say goodbye to the Year of the Sphinx and joyfully welcome the Year of the Cobra. The Sphinx symbolizes power, strength, growing, and crushing our enemies. The past year has been all that and more!

In this great year past, we set up the basic principles of government, such as the law, courts, and the currency. We protected each other from any harm by keeping crime at bay because of the law, and we in the case of crime, fairly ruled the situation and equitably doled out the punishments. On top of the currency being created, we established the treasury. We created jobs for each other in order to support and care for ourselves, jobs such as: the Temple Draft jobs, Egypt Island jobs, hauling bricks, and serving at the festivals. We have promoted education for everyone, even foreigners, with our Hieroglyphic Learning Packets. We have provided luxury goods for the temples, businesses and people of Egypt with the trade routes that we have established. Some of the benefits from this trade route is the mint plant, the chamomile flower, the incense wood of the cedar tree, gourds for pots and bowls, and other lavish goods to improve our daily lives. The trade route that we have constructed begins at Lake Melton, the outpost of Shaat. We have made allies with the locals and have spread our influence far and wide. In this past glorious year, we have also outpaced and won victory over our bitter enemies, the Romans. The Romans shall never again threaten us, degrade us, or harm us! What a tremendous and boastful feat!

We have also spent an enormous amount of time and effort in the development, construction, and colonization of Egypt Island. In this past year, all activities towards Egypt Island, excluding its discovery, have taken place. In this past year, the island was explored, claimed by Egypt, and built upon. We placed the claiming stake and built the white monument. On the island, we also had discovered very valuable resources on the island, such as metallic, sparkly pigments, writing tablets, cedar, and colorful stones. On the island, we have also constructed a path that runs North to South on the island, increasing travel speed and efficiency. Also, there has been found a great deposit of stone in the west across the water from the island, from which we can quarry and draw stones for construction throughout the Kingdom. We have labeled plants of toxicity to better protect our visitors and workers to the island from ailments, such as poison ivy.  Also on the island there has been installed a sign to better direct visitors, and seats placed throughout the island for comfort. There has also been found a throne fit for royal visitors. We have partly hauled the throne in the direction from where it rests on the land bridge, to the South Side.

For the religion aspect, we have also held festivals for the glory of the gods and for the glory of Egypt. We also have created the plans of the temples for the gods Osiris, Re-Horakhty, and the goddess Isis and Hathor.

Construction has also taken place on the government room, and the temple of Egypt. We, as you already know, have spent countless hours working on them, laboring on them, painting, sketching, copying, and even more. When they will be completed, they will be a masterpiece and a monumental achievement.

This year is the Year of the Cobra, the year of wealth and prosperity. Of sovereignty, unity, leadership, and protection from harm. There are many tasks set in front of us that we must set out to complete. We must achieve these goals these goals and dreams in order to bring a brighter Egypt, to stay the top civilization, spread our influence, always inspire awe in anyone who hears about us, and to always be remembered as the great, victorious Egypt that we truly are.

One goal for this year is that we must enrich our culture. One way to do this is by establishing a library. Therefore, we will establish a library. In this library will be held all kinds of books and scrolls, the Book of Thoth, legends, music recopies, poetry, stories, dance, all types of literature. With this library available to everyone, the people of Egypt can be educated on everything they please that is available in the library. You may learn everything about the gods, architecture, or legends, just to name a few.  You could also entertain yourself with volumes of love stories, adventure stories, or mysteries. Anything that exists in the library, all knowledge, news, entertainment, and more, could be to your access. The Government will provide information about the gods, our history, and other societies, but everything else must be provided by you. The Government cannot do everything, therefore it is up to you to produce our literature, produce our culture, and produce our entertainment. If you create any type of literature, you may turn it into the library and receive appropriate payment. The library will then make copies of your piece and have them available for other Egyptians to check out, read, and marvel at. If you wish to, you can also sell your piece of literature. The library will eventually become a storehouse of all types of literature created by you, the citizens. With all of this impressive literature, our culture will shoot through the roof! The library will fan the flames of culture, and also improve your life as an Egyptian.

This year, there will also be change involving the Government. Because there is some confusion about the laws and the court systems, they will be clarified and improved. Once the laws and courts are further clarified, we will improve our methods of enforcing the law. Because Egypt is so prosperous and further strives to be prosperous, the Government will do all they can to further increase the value of our currency. The citizens can help the government by improving the economy. This can be done by starting businesses, buying goods from each other, and being active in your job. The people wish Egypt to be a place with more liberty; therefore, the Government will give all the Egyptians more freedom. We will establish our individual rights, freedoms, and more, in addition to your original rights. Your rights will be established in a few weeks time after the festival. The Government will also, this coming year, strive to set up alliances and trade routes with other civilizations and cultures. We shall trample any enemies that may appear or prove a rival to us and our civilization.

For Egypt Island, there are also tasks that will be accomplished this year. First off, we must finish transporting the royal throne from the land bridge to the South Side.  We must do this quickly so that the rising water will not be in the way of our work. Around the mighty throne, we will also construct a palace not just for the Pharaoh, but for all who visit the island. We shall also build a stronger, more durable base for the white monument so that it will not be washed away when the water rises up. Also, there will be another path built running from East to West on the island, from the land bridge to the East Side. We will also install a toilet for guests on the island to use. We will further map out and explore the island, we will also find the place to build the Temple of Sorbek. Much other building on the island will take place this year.

Another goal for this year is education. We hope to educate every Egyptian in our language and writing. We need everyone to be able to read and write in our county’s language. Everyone must also know how to use our numerals. Strive for this goal, fellow citizens.

Furthermore, this year we will continue to hold more festivals that are increasingly entertaining and increasingly glorifying towards the gods. We will also build the grand temples to all of our gods. We will bring offerings there and hold more festivals because of them. This will be another critical section of our culture.

Many new, progressive, and exciting things are in store for this New Year. Egypt in this New Year is destined to prosper, grow, and thrive. With everyone working together, we shall continue to be the most marveling, awe inspiring civilization. We will eradicate crime, increase our borders, maintain unity, flourish, and be the best we can be. We are Egyptians, civilians of the mightiest culture ever to exist, and ever existing. For us, anything and everything is possible. Nothing shall stand in our way or obstruct our unity. Every culture will look up to us and envy us because of our achievements. This year, let us all come together and set out with the New Year mission ahead of us.
