Yay! So this Festival of initiation was really awhile ago, but i am making this post for all of the pathetic people who didn't come. Because of you people, you have disgraced Egypt,
Waset, and left the Pharaoh alone with 7 girls!! (actually, not so bad if i think back on it!)
So 4 noble Egyptians came to the festival and our 3 Korean allies. (Korea is on the other side of the world, but oh what the heck, let them come. Egypt is so generous to foreigners!) So the people in the picture from left to right back row first are Ashleigh (Korean), Jacob (Egyptian), Gayle (Korean), Kelli (Korean), Gemma (Egyptian), Fiona (Egyptian), and Teryn (Egyptian). Gayle and Kelli both came in extravagant kimonos and while the Egyptians came in fantabulous Egyptian costume. I allowed Teryn to maintain her former Creek Indian traditions, and come as a Creek.
We started the festival with the Egyptian Tug of War!!! Everyone linked elbows and tried to pull each other across the line. We tried it, But Gemma and Kelli couldn't keep their grip and the whole chain broke, so really, no one won.
Next we played the Egyptian Basket Relay game. We tried to balance "baskets" on our heads while running a relay. That was fun and personally I think that the Egyptians won!
Afterwards, we came in and had the grand feast. The dinner was a potluck as every festival and the Koreans brought in some amazing foreigner food! Rice, Seaweed, and little cookies with the Korean flag iced on them just to name a few. The Koreans also brought in their legendary "Cactus Juice" drink to the party. It was amazing and was almost all consumed! But the best drink at the Festival, and i think that everyone can agree with me, was the Egyptian "Wine." This drink is actually freshly squeezed grape juice with a few extra secret touches to make it super good! It was gone almost immediately! There was also much Hummus and Pita bread, very yummy! We also ordered Domino's Pizza, which of course as we all know is very Egyptian.
The evening went on and we showed the Koreans our Egyptian goods to trade. There was also entertainment. The Koreans played a Korean song for everyone to hear. We even played "Musical Ankhs" (musical chairs only Egyptian form) and had a big time! (we danced to Walk Like an Egyptian)
We also initiated 3 members, Gemma, Fiona, and Teryn. They are sure to become fine Egyptians!
Also in the night the Pharaoh gave the guests a tour of our capitol, Waset. Sadly, when we got back from the tour, Kelli and Gayle had to go home. They were about to miss out on the best fun of the night!
Even though we had practically partied to death, we still had some Egyptian fire left burning in us. We decided to go downstairs, team up, and have an all out Nerf Gun War! Don't even try to say that that isn't Egyptian, because it is now!!! It was Ashleigh and Gemma against Jacob, Fiona, and Teryn. We turned out the lights and waged our mini war in the dark! It was totally Awesome and Fiona's team won. Yay for us! And that is how we party like true Egyptians!
So that was the festival of initiation, come to the next festival!!
