Temple Drafts 2-5

Temple Draft 2, Jan. 22, 2011

This one was 6 hours long! Because of the poor quaity of the hieoglyphs that the laborers from the past temple draft drew, you first had to finish a scribal education packet before you were allowed to write on the walls. Finishing the packet occupied most of eveyone's time and put a damper on the productivity of the draft. Even though most people were busy with their packets, we still got things done. Fiona started sketching the curse panel in the govenment room. Also, Gayle began working on the mystery project. Don't ask what it is, because it is a mystery! Teryn and Ashleigh began copying down some texts from the Book of Toth on the wall. We also worked a long time on making grids and got a few panels finished. When we were at a stopping point, we watched Sleeping Beauty!

Temple Draft 3, Jan. 29, 2011

This temple draft was a reasonable length, 4 hours. Gayle continued the mystery project. Kelli finished up the grids, and everyone else made beads. Lots of beads. They were government comissioned because the government owned the rights to Jewelry. We, at the end of our 2 our work shift, watched Robinhood Men in Tights!!! We had a great time!
Temple Draft 4, Feb. 5, 2011

This draft was a complete sucess! We officially broke out the paint and started painting! Also, the mystery project was fnished! We made more beads and the government decided to give up it's rights to Jewelry! Applaud this change in power! Two Egyptians, Fiona and Gemma, decided to start their own Jewelry buisness, Super Isis incorperated. Good job guys!  After all this progress, we took the last 2 hours to have a nerf gun war!

Temple Draft 5, Feb. 27, 2011

Each draft becomes increasingly productive! Fiona finished the curse panel and paited a whole lot, Gemma and Kelli, after training, started work on the trade panel, and Teryn came up with the texts for 2 panels.Good job! Because it was a beautiful day, we all went outside and took a nice long walk and wagon ride. While onou walk, we played at the Rocky Hill playground! We just so happened to pick up some bricks too. The Government Room is REALLY coming along!

Progress!!!

Egypt Island Trip No.6 Jan. 17, 2011

Yes, we are Egyptians, we also work in the dead of winter.

The red box, with all of our supplies

So, this trip was FREEZING!!!! There was even snow on the ground! We, after I gave the grand tour, first checked up on all the usual things, re glossed the seats, checked the monument, checked supplies, the usual.Unfortunately, there are deer that think it is funny to come to our island and knock our monuments over. Yeah, the white monument was knocked over. Also, the rain, snow, and constant freezing, had worn away the mud brick and rock base. So, we decided that we have to make a different base. The base still has to be rather tall so that we can see the monument from the home dock. The base also has to be tall because when the water comes up, around May, the monument won't be under water and destroyed.

The throne in the mud.

The rising water was also the cause of what we did for the rest of the time. The Pharaoh selected a throne for him to sit upon during his time on the island. The throne is massive, heavy, and can not be destroyed! The perfect spot for Pharaoh's throne is the south side!..... But the problem is, it is on the west side, REALLY FAR AWAY from its final destination. Another problem is that we have to move the throne before the water rises so that it won't be under water, and so that the Pharaoh can sit on it. Remember when I said the throne was heavy? Yeah. I wasn't kidding. We, me, Kelli, and Gemma, needed to move the throne, but the problem was, the throne was sooo heavy that it kept on sinking in the dirt. We were going no where with it. But then, Pharaoh had an innovative plan! They would make a road from rocks, pull the throne onto the road, and then drag the throne on the road all the way to the south side. First though, we had to move the rock from the dirt onto road. It sounds completely simple, but not so much. We couldn't even lift the rock.

The woring plan!

Eventually we got the rock on the road and the plan worked! Well, it did, but this plan needed efficient labor. There were only 3 people, 1 was strong, and the other 2 were weaklings. We pulled the throne the length of the road, about 10 feet, and then had to pick up all the rocks and move them to form the new road. Too bad that some laborers could barely lift the road rocks.... So we repeated this throne moving process about 5 times, and by the end we were all exhausted and had moved the throne fro start to finish, only about 60-75 feet. We stopped at a hard place, when we resume we next have to go up a hill. Yay, the hill will save it from the waters, but it will be so very hard to scale! Well, we can do anything because we are Egyptians. We went back to the lake house, had some soup, and watched the Mummy! What a great day! We will definitely resume work when it is warmer!

Pulling in the mud, to no avail.

Egypt Island Trip No. 5 Jan. 4, 2011

Funness.....
So me, Jordan, and Ashley headed out for a cold fun day on Egypt Island. Because Mimi had invited some fiends to stay at the lake house, we decided to go straight to the island. It was winter, and the water was down low, so we coldn't take boats to get there like we normally do, for fear of the boat tipping and us getting hypothermia. We took out all of our stuff, the red box and a load of 6 bricks, and started our long 30 minute trek to the island. We took the old loggers' tail and went around coves, through the woods, over fallen tees, up hills, and across gorges. Halfway there, Mimi realized that we could have driven there instead of walked there. UGH!!! Well, I guess the exercise was good. The load of brick we had was sooooo heavy, so we solved the problem in an Egyptian way! We found a long tree branch, attached the brick load to the middle, and two people took the ends of the pole. This lessened our load and made the trek easier!!!
On the island, I first gave a tour. Next, Ashley and Jordan pained the Hathor Path sign. Its GORGEOUS! Then, we painted red dots on Poison Ivy vines, so we know not to touch them, and green dots on the Cedar trees. After that, we all painted seats all over the island. All the seats are are rocks that you can sit on that are painted. Pretty simple. While the seats were drying, the girls decided they wanted a toilet on the island. We scout out a suitable place and got to work. We got halfway through when we decided that we were all very tired. After the seats were glossed, painted and dried, we moved them to all over the Island. By this point,we were exhausted. Lastly, we moved all of our stuff to higher ground to protect it from when the water level rises.
We found out on this trip that deer visit our island often. They walk around, and cause trouble. Yes, they were the cause in knocking down our Egypt Island monument. Also,we decided that Trey, the criminal, should clean up our littered island. That was a very fun and successful trip.

Temple Draft Day No.1 Dec. 11

How should i sum it up, fun? Progressive?
The answer: Yes! The temple draft day was a day dedicated to get crackin' on the government room and Temple to Egypt. We we all worked on many things, creating spells and curses, copying down texts, making  grid, laughing, an acquiring some bricks. No, we were not stealing bricks. After 3 hours of work, we made a whole lot of progress on the government room, and hopefully we will do it again soon!
Here are some pics!:

Festival of Khonsu! Nov. 20

-Okay everyone, I've been a busy person and haven't updated in FOREVER. Just bear with me.-

What a Night!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The festival of Khonsu was SOOOO fun!! We were going to start off with a court case for Trey, but of course, he weaseled his way out of it. What a disgrace.  His face is now the face of shame. Ok, just kidding, but seriously.

"Khonsu!"

Setting aside that Trey is a criminal and skipped court, The rest of the festival was awesome. Of course, we were all to busy having fun to bother taking pictures, but luckily, we took 3!!! We started the festival awaiting Trey, who, just in case you missed it, never came. We decided to make light of the situation though, by having a mock trial, with Fiona as the criminal. F.U.N. Next, while i prepared the festival ceremony by writing down what I was going to say in Egyptian, everyone sort of ran around, causing chaos and practicing for the nerf gun war to come.
Next, we ate our pizza meal. We also ate some yummy pork that Fiona brought.
"Khonsu!" rattle
After our feasting, we began the festival ceremony. In the moon light, we made a procession. At the head, Khonsu, and Fiona, followed by Roy carrying the incense and candle, Jacob with the religious scripts, Gayle with the drum,..... and sorry, my memory fails me here. We trecked around the house three times stepping in time with the drum, and every fourth beat saying, "Khonsu!". Then we all faced the moon and i read the scripts. Then, the ceremony began to get goofy. We marched around in a circle, then ran around the circle to the increasing tempo of the drum beat, and then we all ran into each other! Gayle went rolling across the ground with the drum crashing behind her, a few of us fell down into the grass, we were all dizzy, and the candle wet out. We decided it was time to go inside.

About to attack

You would think that was it, but no! We were ready for the spectacle of the night, the nerf gun war! We divided ourselves up into teams and divided the basement. It was Jacob, Ashleigh, and Gayle against Gemma, Roy, and Fiona. Teryn decided to just watch. We turned up some music, turned out the lights, loaded our guns, and began the war!!! Gayle and I were commanding our great team, and used our best battle strategies. Just in case there are spies out there, we are with holding our strategies. Anyways, the war waged on for an hour with Pharaoh's team in the lead! We took all of the other team's weapons and took some of their team mates captive. Anyways, the Pharaoh's team won!!!

Even after the war and after i drank 5 sprites, we were still ready to party. We turned out the lights again and played a hide-and-go-seek sort of game. Soon though, everyone had to leave. We had a great time.

Thank you to everyone who came!!!

Big News!!!

Okay yall, lots is happening!!!

The fall of Tanis and Memphis

Both the cities of Tanis and Memphis have been dissolved. The governors of Memphis and Tanis have been kicked out of office because they have not worked on their cities. The governess of Memphis, Jordan S., had a problem. She scouted her land, drew up the plans for buildings, but is not allowed to build on the land she selected. Memphis is no more and Jordan is no longer a governor. She will become Pharaoh's 2nd in command. Luckily, she will not be punished like the governor of Tanis will be.

Awesome artwork by Jonathan B.!
Trey G., the former governor of Tanis, had scouted the site for building his city, said he would build, recieved the royal funds, and never built. He claimed it was because he had no time, but we'll let the judge decide that! Yes, Trey is having a court trial because he has disgraced Egypt, lied to the Pharaoh, stollen government papers, and used the Pharaoh's funds incorrectly. This court trial is to take place on the 20th of November at 4:30, that is if Trey dosen't weedle his way out of attending. You are all welcome to come, its just right before our festival so it should be easy to attend! (And Jonathan B. is the judge, lets all hope he is hard on Trey!)

The Fesitval of Khonsu
Yes everyone, it is about time for another festival!! YAY!!! This festival is to the god Khonsu, the god of the moon and time. He is the son of Amun and Mut and is the main god of Waset. So, come to Waset at 5:00-8-00pm (4:30 if you want to attend the court session) on November the 20th for an awesome night filled with fun, and laughter! Its a potluck, so bring food to share, also, come as an Egyptian!!! (We, in Egyptian tradition, are ending in a Nerf Gun war, so bring extra Nerf guns if you want.) Yay! This will be exciting!!
The Hieroglyphic Learner Packet

The Hieroglyph learner packet is almost completed!!! There is only one page left to make untill you can buy one and recieve a scribal education! They will be ready to purchase at the Festival of Khonsu, so bring one gold and silver coin to the festival to buy one.

Forigner Update

The Koreans, out allies, are getting smarter everyone. They have succesfully created their own writing system. Now, they might actually be able to be considered as a civilization! Lets hope they are smart enough not to mess with the Egyptians and smart enough to open a trade route with us or something.
